The DS1085Z-10+ is a dual-output frequency synthesizer from Analog Devices/Maxim Integrated, housed in an 8-pin SOIC package. It generates two synchronous outputs: OUT0 (reference) and OUT1 (main). The internal master oscillator operates between 66MHz and 133MHz. With a 10kHz step size, the main output (OUT1) ranges from 8.1kHz to 133MHz, while the reference output (OUT0) ranges from 8.2MHz to 133MHz. It features a 2-wire serial interface for programming prescalers and dividers. Frequency settings are stored in nonvolatile EEPROM memory, allowing standalone operation without external timing components on a single 5V supply.
Verify the specific suffix 'Z-10' confirms the 10kHz step size variant. Confirm the '+ indicates RoHS compliance. Check the datasheet for absolute maximum ratings regarding voltage on any pin relative to ground (-0.5V to +6.0V). Ensure operating temperature range requirements align with the specified 0°C to +70°C range.
Select the DS1085Z-10+ when a 10kHz frequency resolution is required. Compare against Z-25 and Z-50 variants if different step sizes or DAC spans are needed. Verify that the required output frequencies fall within the specified ranges for OUT0 (8.2MHz–133MHz) and OUT1 (8.1kHz–133MHz). Ensure the system supports a single 5V supply and 2-wire serial communication.
The DS1085 series includes Z-10, Z-25, and Z-50 variants, distinguished by their frequency step sizes of 10kHz, 25kHz, and 50kHz respectively. All share the same package and core functionality but differ in DAC span and OFFSET register configurations. The Z-10 variant offers the finest frequency resolution among the standard options.
Direct replacements include DS1085Z-25+ and DS1085Z-50+. Note that these have different step sizes (25kHz and 50kHz) and different DAC/OFFSET ranges. Verify that the coarser resolution does not impact application accuracy.
