The LS7183N-S is a CMOS quadrature clock converter manufactured by LSI Computer Systems. It converts quadrature clocks from optical or magnetic encoders into Up/Down Clock strings for the LS7183 variant. The device supports x1, x2, and x4 resolution modes. It operates within a voltage range of +3V to +5.5V (VDD - VSS). The output pulse width is programmable between 200ns and 140µs with excellent regulation. I/Os are compatible with TTL and low voltage CMOS standards.
The LS7183N-S belongs to the LS7183 family of quadrature clock converters produced by LSI Computer Systems. This series includes variants such as the LS7183, LS7184, and their SOIC counterparts. These components are designed to bridge analog encoder outputs with digital counting logic.
The LS7184 serves as a functional alternative within the same family, providing a Clock and an Up/Down direction control output instead of separate Up/Down Clock strings. Designers should verify interface compatibility when substituting.
