The MAX901ACPE is a quad high-speed, low-power voltage comparator manufactured by Analog Devices Inc./Maxim Integrated. It features four independent channels with TTL-logic outputs and active internal pull-ups. The device operates from separate analog and digital power supplies or a single combined supply ranging from +5V to +10V for the analog section, while the digital supply requires +5V. Key electrical characteristics include an 8ns typical propagation delay at 5mV overdrive, a maximum input offset voltage of 2mV, and an input bias current of 6µA. It consumes approximately 18mW per comparator at +5V. The component is housed in a 16-pin Plastic DIP package and supports an operating temperature range of 0°C to +70°C.
Verify component authenticity through authorized distributors or direct manufacturer channels. Confirm RoHS compliance status and check for specific manufacturing lot codes if required for legacy system maintenance. Ensure proper handling procedures are followed during installation to prevent electrostatic discharge damage to the sensitive input stages.
Select this part for designs requiring multiple comparator channels without latch functionality. Note that unlike the MAX900/MAX902/MAX903, the MAX901 lacks independent latch inputs. Consider the MAX920x series for newer designs requiring pin-for-pin compatibility with significantly lower power dissipation.
The MAX901ACPE belongs to the MAX900–MAX903 family of high-speed comparators. While it shares performance characteristics with other members of the series, it specifically excludes the latch feature found in the MAX900, MAX902, and MAX903 variants. This makes it distinct within the family for applications needing pure comparison without output holding capabilities.
The datasheet explicitly states the MAX900 was manufactured using a process no longer available and is not recommended for new designs. For newer designs requiring similar speed with half the power dissipation, the MAX9201/MAX9202/MAX9203 series are suggested as replacements.
