The REF02Z is a precision voltage reference providing a nominal 5.0 V output with ±0.5% initial accuracy and an 8.5 ppm/°C temperature coefficient over the -55°C to +125°C range. It operates from a supply voltage of 7.0 V to 36 V, drawing a maximum quiescent current of 1.4 mA while sourcing up to 10 mA load current. The device features low noise (15 µV p-p) and includes a TEMP pin for temperature monitoring.
Verify package suffix Z corresponds to CERDIP configuration. Confirm grade specifications match application requirements as nongraded versions have specific tolerance limits. Check datasheet for absolute maximum ratings regarding input voltage and operating temperature ranges before integration.
Select this component when a fixed 5.0 V reference is required with high stability over wide temperature extremes. Ensure input voltage remains within the specified 7.0 V to 36 V range. Consider the ceramic DIP package for environments requiring robust physical sealing compared to plastic alternatives.
Part of the REF01/REF02/REF03 series offering 10.0 V, 5.0 V, and 2.5 V options. Designed for general-purpose and space-constrained applications. Newer designs may consider ADR01/ADR02/ADR03 series for higher accuracy while maintaining pin compatibility.
ADR02HPZ offers higher accuracy and temperature stability with full pin-for-pin compatibility.
The TEMP pin provides an unbuffered output directly from the band gap core, varying linearly with temperature at approximately 1.96 mV/°C.
A TRIM terminal allows fine adjustment of the output voltage using an external potentiometer and resistor network.
