The EL5001IREZ is a six-channel level-shifting clock driver manufactured by Renesas Electronics Corporation, designed primarily for LTPS LCD display applications. It accepts 3.3V CMOS or TTL logic inputs and provides configurable output voltage swings up to 18V differential via VH and VL pins. The device features two channel groups (one of two, one of four) with selectable inverting or non-inverting modes. Key electrical parameters include a typical supply current of 250µA, a disabled current of 3µA, and rise/fall times of 35ns maximum at 500pF load. It operates from -40°C to +85°C in a 20-HTSSOP package.
This component is marked as not recommended for new designs with no recommended replacement provided by the manufacturer. Verification of current availability requires direct contact with technical support or authorized distributors, as standard stock status may be limited or obsolete.
Select this part for legacy LTPS LCD designs requiring high-voltage level shifting from low-voltage logic. Ensure the total supply voltage (VH minus VL) does not exceed 18V and that the positive supply is at least 4V higher than the negative supply. Verify thermal dissipation calculations against the 125°C junction temperature limit when driving capacitive loads.
The EL5001 series was originally developed by Intersil and is now part of the Renesas Electronics portfolio. The 'IREZ' suffix denotes the 20-pin HTSSOP package variant that is lead-free and RoHS compliant. The datasheet revision FN7376 Rev 2.00 documents its specifications as a high-performance buffer for display timing signals.
The datasheet explicitly states 'NO RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT'. Designers must evaluate form, fit, and function compatibility manually if sourcing alternatives, as no official substitute part numbers are listed.
The six channels are divided into two groups: one group contains two channels and the other contains four. Each group has a dedicated inversion control pin (INV1 or INV2) to toggle between inverting and non-inverting modes.
The inputs are compatible with 3V and 5V CMOS signals. If the positive supply is set to 5V, the device is also compatible with TTL inputs.
The output swing is set by the external reference voltages applied to the VH and VL pins. These pins are not buffered and should be effectively bypassed, allowing for a differential range of up to 18V.
