The trend of science and technology is changing rapidly.
STMicroelectronics (ST), a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, has officially notified customers of a new round of price increases for selected products, set to take effect on June 28, 2026. The announcement, delivered via a formal letter dated May 28, 2026 and signed by Jerome Roux, President of Sales & Marketing, follows a previous price adjustment earlier this year and underscores persistent industry-wide cost pressures.
In the official notice, ST cited sustained inflationary pressures, rising raw material costs, increased transportation expenses, and higher labor costs across the semiconductor supply chain as the primary drivers for the latest price hike.
The adjustment will primarily impact products not included in the previous price increase implemented in April 2026. ST has not disclosed specific percentage increases or detailed product categories affected, referring only to “selected products” in the formal notification.
This latest adjustment marks ST’s second major price increase in 2026. In March 2026, the company announced a price hike effective April 26, 2026, also citing soaring operational and supply chain costs.
The semiconductor industry continues to face unprecedented cost challenges, with energy prices, wafer fabrication capacity constraints, and packaging (OSAT) costs remaining elevated. Global demand for semiconductors—driven by AI infrastructure, electric vehicles, industrial automation, and consumer electronics—remains strong, further straining supply and supporting pricing power across the sector.
ST has stated the price adjustment is necessary to maintain service quality, sustain product roadmap investments, and ensure long-term supply reliability for customers. The company has advised clients to contact their account representatives for details on how specific part numbers will be affected.
As a leading electronic components distributor, ChipApex is closely monitoring the situation and working to secure inventory and minimize disruptions for our customers. We recommend clients review their procurement plans and place orders for affected ST products as soon as possible to lock in current pricing before the June 28, 2026, increase takes effect.
ST’s latest move aligns with broader industry actions, as major suppliers implement second-round increases in 2026:
