DS28E25+ is listed in the Specialized ICS range at ChipApex. The manufacturer field lists Analog Devices Inc./Maxim Integrated. Its product description is IC AUTHENTICATION CHIP TO92-2. Review the specifications below when checking this part for your BOM.
The DS28E25+ is a DeepCover Secure Authenticator featuring bidirectional SHA-256 authentication and 4Kb user EEPROM. It operates on a single-contact 1-Wire bus at up to 76.9kbps with a pullup voltage range of 2.97V to 3.63V. The device includes a unique factory-programmed 64-bit ROM ID, hardware-accelerated SHA-256 MAC generation (3ms computation time), and 100k write-cycle endurance. It supports multiple protection modes including OTP/EPROM emulation and read/write protection.
Verify the specific package suffix for the required form factor: 'G' for SFN, no suffix for TO-92, 'P' for TSOC, or 'Q' for TDFN-EP. Confirm RoHS compliance status indicated by the '+' suffix. Check availability for tape-and-reel quantities if applicable.
Select based on physical attachment requirements: SFN for electro-mechanical contacts, TO-92 for through-hole, TSOC for surface mount, or TDFN-EP for compact SMD applications. Ensure the host system supports 1-Wire protocol and provides appropriate pullup resistance within the 300Ω to 1500Ω range.
Part of the Maxim Integrated DeepCover embedded security family. Designed to protect sensitive data and intellectual property through advanced physical security layers and cryptographic authentication mechanisms integrated directly into peripheral devices.
DS28E25+T (Tape and reel version of TO-92 package)
The DS28E25 communicates over the 1-Wire bus at overdrive speeds up to 76.9kbps.
A read-protected secret is held in on-chip memory, used alongside the ROM ID and host challenge to generate SHA-256 MACs without exposing the key.
The device supports user-programmable and irreversible protection modes, including authentication, write protect, read protect, and OTP/EPROM emulation.
