The Hoffman AEK230 is a steel electrical interlock rated for 220/240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. It provides positive internal safety lockout on electrical enclosures while equipment is energized. The solenoid assembly prevents the door handle from being turned to open the door when powered. Rated for continuous duty, it withstands heavy industrial use. Approval includes UL 508A.
Verify that the specific application requires a 220/240 VAC rated interlock. Confirm compatibility with the existing Hoffman NEMA 12 door latching mechanism. Ensure wiring allows the energized state to physically prevent door opening as per UL 508A requirements. Check for required accessories such as mounting hardware or additional solenoid assemblies if not included in the base package.
Select this model when 220/240 VAC control voltage is available. Choose AEK230 over AEK115 (115V) or AEK460 (460V) based on system voltage. Steel construction offers durability for heavy industrial environments. Ensure the enclosure type supports the AEK style mounting configuration.
Part of the nVent Hoffman AEK series of electrical interlocks. Includes models AEK115, AEK230, and AEK460. Designed specifically for Hoffman electrical enclosures to enhance operator safety by preventing access during energized states.
AEK115 and AEK460 are alternative voltage ratings within the same series. Verify voltage compatibility before substitution. No direct cross-brand substitutes are documented in official sources.
